Like many contractors, electricians have a lot of options in terms of technology as far as running their businesses and doing their jobs. The trouble for many, though, is sifting through the noise to find the apps and software that make their lives easier and more efficient. While a lot of software for electricians make big promises, many of them cause as many headaches as they are supposed to solve.

Fortunately, we’re here to help make sense of the clouded landscape of apps and software for electricians by offering up our take on three that will make your life easier in 2018 and beyond.

Benefits
Electricians fall victim to the same issues many other contractors do when it comes to managing estimates and billing. Fortunately, this invoicing app for electricians makes it easy to keep all of your estimates and invoices organized and professional looking. Upload your materials list and pricing and with a few taps you can put together an estimate as you walk the potential job site. A few more taps and you can email the quote as a PDF with your default payment terms and any additional notes you need to add before you head to your next jobsite. When the job is complete, simply turn the quote into an invoice as soon as the job is finished and get paid quickly.

Megger CableCalc+

Benefits
While this app is still in beta, its benefits will quickly become clear to an electrician in the field. The cable calculator app offers a volt drop calculator and a comprehensive cable selection tool. The interface is remarkably easy to use, so even electricians who aren’t particularly tech savvy will find it easy to use. Simply enter the cable type, ref method, maximum load and cable length and the app will calculate the minimum cable size, voltage drop and load current. Oh, and did we mention this app is free? If you don’t find it as valuable as we do, it won’t cost you a dime.
